Events Roundup and Opportunities Abound

With the arrival of warmer weather comes community events, volunteer opportunities, and a chance to win by completing a survey!

Spring has sprung and Riverbend and area is reawakening! I love seeing everyone emerge as the weather warms up, whether it’s dog walking, bike riding or kids playing, our neighbourhoods really come alive.

This is also the time of year that we see a growing number of community events. Don’t miss out on the RCL Compost Sale on May 10, Esports on May 10 and June 28, or the TRAC Run and Walk on May 25!

Throughout the year there are many opportunities to volunteer in your community and spring is no exception. The Riverbend Community League has spots open on their board and the social committee is often looking for new members. Get in touch with your community league about getting involved. It’s a great feeling to give back to your community.

The Riverbend Ragg-Times is looking for more volunteers to help us deliver the paper to local businesses and it’s a great way to get in some extra steps while getting out in your community. It takes less than an hour, roughly every two months. If you live in an apartment building and would like to volunteer to bring in future issues for residents, let us know! Email info@riverbendonline.ca to inquire.

We received so much wonderful editorial content from community members this spring that some is exclusively online. To view online content as well as the PDF versions of the RRT, visit riverbendonline.ca/the-riverbend-ragg-times.

Last, but most certainly not least, we want to hear from you! Our 2025 Reader Survey will help us to better deliver community news that’s important to you in a format you enjoy. By sharing your opinions and telling us about yourself, you’ll be entered to win a $100 Curry Corner gift card. To learn more and take the survey, simply scan the QR code with your phone or visit our website.

A Legacy of Community Building

I recently had the pleasure of meeting with Sheryl Bowhay, a long-time resident of Riverbend and dedicated volunteer for the Riverbend Community League. For those who may know Sheryl, you may be surprised by the number of ways she has contributed to our community over the years and for those who don’t know Sheryl, I’m very pleased to introduce you to her!
